Welcome to Dunwurkn Border Collies...

This is Our Story/History...

Here at Dunwurkn we will always strive to produce quality dogs for quality homes, specializing in breeding performance dogs for performance sports.

Owning and breeding Border Collies is not something that i take for granted, each new addition to the family is done so with lots of thought and will only be done so when i feel we are ready to give the time to raise a puppy it deserves, each litter born is done so with the utmost care, planning and attention and i put everything possible into raising a sound healthy litter, so as its new family can enjoy the love it has to give for many years to come, for this reason i am very select to which homes my puppies will go, I believe that owning a Border Collie is for life and for this reason will not sell to other breeders who's only aim is to use them for breeding and then rehoming them. That is not a life that any Border Collie should have to live, my Border Collies are my family, all of my dogs/puppies are bought up in a family environment living inside or outside the house, all puppies will be whelped inside not in kennels, and socialized with children and other dogs before going into their new homes. I do understand that sometimes circumstances change and that a puppy/dog may need to find a new home and for this reason it is my policy that every puppy/dog is to be either returned to me, or can remain in its home until i find a suitable home for them...

I have owned and trained many different types of dogs for over 18 years and first fell in love with Border Collies in 2001 when my first BC a Black/White male - Buddy, came to me as a rescue dog and hence started my love of the breed, when Buddy was 3 yrs old i decided that another of this fabulous breed could fit into my household, this time i decided that a pedigree BC was what i wanted as i had become involved with competition Agility and was training in Flyball and Obedience and had learnt enough to realise the benefits of owning dogs with a known pedigree, so i embarked on a two year journey of searching for another Border Collie...

Finally in January 2005 Coco (Wottapud Roki Road) came into my life bred from Wottapud Kennels in Gympie QLD, Coco was a highly driven Choc/White Female who enjoyed training and competing in various dog sports such as, Agility, Flyball, Frisbee, and Herding. Coco was my foundation bitch and the reason i decided to embark on breeding these beautiful canines. Her motivation to work and her extreme ability for dog sports made me just love the breed all the more.

In July 2006 GT (Borderiver Gin and Tonic) came into our lives, bred at Borderiver Kennels in Morayfield QLD. GT a Black/White Female although not as highly driven to work as Coco was also training and competing in the various Dog Sports just like Coco and Buddy and is growing up to be a very impressionable girl and is showing a lot of potential, GT helped me achieve a bucket list goal of one of my dogs appearing on TV, we were invited along to XXXX Island up off Yeppoon to do a series of TV Ads, she was a star and impressed all cast and crew, sadly the ads did not stay on air for long as XXXX decided to not continue with the lease on the island, however we thoroughly enjoyed our time on set...

November 2007 seen yet another addition to my ever growing family with the introduction of Focus (Faithet Woody Willow) a Chocolate Merle Tri Colour Boy, he was a very sweet natured boy and had a good amount of drive needed for Dog Sports, he sired a few litters for both myself and Wottapud Kennels, and a few from outside kennels as well with a nice variety of colours, all pups have grown with great temperaments...

June 2009 and we have made the decision that there will be another addition with the arrival of Rumour (Dunwurkn Spring Fling) this girl is a Dunwurkn puppy who was originally sold as an Agility dog, but has now returned home... Rumour a Choc/White female from Coco's first litter, has the most gorgeous temperament is very much like her dam Coco in soo many ways, we look forward to many great times with this girl...

March 2012 and we welcome the addition of Logic (Dunwurkn Logical Intent), he is bred here at Dunwurkn out of Coco by a UK Sire(Xpreshun of Mr Chips) by surgical Frozen Semen implant, by Phil Thomas from QLD Vet Specialists, he was the only puppy conceived and at just 8 weeks is showing great promise with great desire to play and train.. I am looking forward to the next couple years of our adventures together... He will be a potential future stud dog for us here...

August 2012 and we have made the decision that there will be yet another addition to the Dunwurkn clan with the arrival of Decoy - (Dunwurkn Without A Doubt) a gorgeous Choc Merle girl from GT's last litter, sired by Focus i am certainly looking towards many fun times ahead with this girl...

August 2015 and we finally welcome Lark (Shepherds Own Lark), Lark is a Black Tri female born in Germany her Sire is a UK dog i have admired for many years. Lark arrived in Australia in April and after a short stay in quarantine, spent a few months in training on sheep before coming to live with us.

May 2016 and we made the decision that Bonus (Dunwurkn Heart and Soul) will stay with us, he was originally destined for an Agility home, but that did not work out and once he came back the decision for him to stay was an easy one. He is a very handsome choc/white boy from Decoy & Logic's first litter. He is trained for Canine Disc and he will be available to stud to approved females...

November 2016 seen the arrival of Extra (Dunwurkn Whats one More) from Larks first litter sired by Focus... to say im exited to have this girl in the family is an understatement, she is cheeky and full of personality and its going to be some fun times ahead training her for Canine Disc and Herding when we can get the opportunity.

June 2018 and along comes Addict (Dunwurkn Its An Addiction) because surely i have an addiction for Border Collies :) .. Addict is from Decoy & Logics 2nd litter and the decision to keep a girl from this litter was an easy one. Bonus is a wonderful boy as is his brother Rehab , so to have a female from the same breeding is exciting... Looking forward to watching her grow and develop, she will be trained for Canine Disc and when i get a chance i will show her some stock.

We also made the decision that Rehab (Dunwurkn GRND CNTRL To MJR TOM) who returned to us in June 2017, will be staying.. Rehab is one of the Decoy/Logic 2015 litter (brother to Bonus), returned to us as he became too much to handle for his previous owner. His original name was Tommy, however i do like to change the names when they come back and as his first owner had put him on medication which i wanted to take him off, this had to be done slowly over 4-6 months so hence the name Rehab :) He really is a lovely boy, who had been allowed to chase light :( we have worked on this without medication and he is much improved with me, he certainly loves to run and enjoys stretching his legs on our 7 1/2 acres almost daily.. it is a joy to have brothers from the same litter. since returning to me we have train & compete in Canine Disc, he is a natural :)

September 2018 seen us with another singleton... Trendy (Dunwurkn Try and Stop Me) is from Larks 2nd litter to an outside boy Omaki (Gadhar Omaki) Trendy will be a dual registered girl her ISDS Registration will be Trendy... Trendy shares a birthday with one of my past dogs Focus, such as emotional day she was born without a fuss, however a 2nd pup (a very large boy) got stuck and had to be removed via c-section.. sadly he did not make it... it was not the original plan for her to stay, but She is a fun loving cheeky girl and her and Addict are going to be fun to grow up together.. a new challenge for me raising 2 pups close in age, but one im sure we will meet and conquer :)

and then there were 12 ... my dream has always been a choc tri, and while i have bred a few over the years for whatever reason none have stayed.. and then along came Sneak (Dunwurkn Because I Can), she is from Larks 3rd litter to Keeper. i never planned on keep a pup from Lark/Keeper but for whatever reason this girl just snuck her way into the family... Sneak is a busy girl with a can-do attitude and rather cute as well :)

July 2021 we welcomed Comic (Sarasota Ewe Cant Be Serious) a lovely Black Tri boy from Oatlands Tasmania, he is a nice combination of ISDS & ANKC lines that go back to my Merle boy Focus, he is showing a very biddable nature and living up to his name making me laugh often., looking forward to his growing up and seeing what he can bring to our breeding lines.

March 2022 and we are making another entry into our story :) with the arrival of Extras 3rd litter to Titus (same dad as Comic) alongside come Fetching.. aka Fetch .. she certainly wasn’t in the plans right now.. but my heart won over my head and the fact she kept ticking all the boxes means she stayed.. she is a Blue Merle Tri although her merle gene length is unique and doesn’t give her a complete merle pattern. We have certainly developed a special bond growing her up and it would of been really hard to see her go off to someone else for new adventures, she will be a great addition to continue on my Focus lines :)

Please take the time to peruse my website, most of my dogs and litters have their own pages...
