Choosing a puppy is the beginning of a lifelong relationship. At Dunwurkn, my priority is to raise healthy, confident puppies and match them with homes where they will be loved, understood and included as family members. Whether you are looking for a dog sports partner or an active companion, I welcome the opportunity to learn more about you and discuss whether a Dunwurkn puppy may suit your home.

My goal is to breed versatile Border Collies with the temperament, structure and willingness to learn that allow them to enjoy an active life with their owners. Dog sports have been a significant part of my journey, including agility, canine disc, obedience, flyball and herding. However, you do not need to compete to provide a wonderful home for a Dunwurkn puppy. Many of our dogs enjoy life as companions. Every puppy is a family member first. Finding the right match between puppy and owner matters more to me than competition ambitions, colour or markings.

Dogs used in my breeding program are DNA tested or clear by parentage for the inherited conditions covered by their results. Where a dog is a carrier of a tested recessive condition, the intended pairing is considered against the other parent’s results. I welcome questions about the health information relevant to a particular pairing. DNA testing provides information about specific inherited conditions; it does not guarantee that a puppy will never develop a health issue. My dogs have not been hip scored. Dunwurkn puppies are born and raised in the home, becoming familiar with everyday family life from an early age. As they develop, they are gradually introduced to different sounds, surfaces, objects and experiences appropriate to their age and confidence. Their world expands from indoor exploration to supervised outdoor adventures around the property. Individual attention and group play help me get to know each puppy. Early activities include exploring new environments, interacting with toys, following me and developing confidence through positive experiences. Puppies are also introduced to toileting routines and crates as part of their early learning. These are foundations for their new owners to continue building on once they go home.

Border Collies need time, companionship, training and opportunities to use their minds as well as their bodies. I look for owners who are prepared to include their dog in everyday life, provide appropriate activities and guide them through puppyhood, adolescence and adulthood. You do not need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. An honest conversation about your household, experience and expectations helps us work out whether one of my puppies could be a good match.

If you are interested in a Dunwurkn puppy, please contact me to discuss your home, lifestyle and what you are looking for in a new family member. Where a place is available, I will provide a Puppy Waiting List Agreement for you to complete. A signed agreement and a $500 deposit are required to confirm your position. A maximum of four waiting list places is offered for each future planned litter. Please join only when you are ready to commit, as your reservation takes a limited place that could otherwise be offered to another family. Your deposit will be deducted from your puppy’s purchase price. It is not refundable if you change your mind or choose not to proceed. Puppy matching and placement are guided by suitability for each home, with the details discussed personally and recorded in your Waiting List Agreement.

Getting to know each puppy as they grow helps me understand their personality, confidence, interests and developing needs. Final selections are generally made when puppies are between five and seven weeks old. This gives me time to consider which puppy is best suited to each prospective home. Your preferences are considered, but a waiting list position does not guarantee a particular puppy, sex, colour or markings. Final placement decisions remain with me and are guided by the puppy’s wellbeing and suitability for the home.

Current puppy prices are:

• Limited Register: from $3,500 AUD.
• Main Register under a co-ownership agreement: $4,500 AUD, considered individually.
• Export on the Main Register: from $4,500 AUD, considered individually.

The price and arrangements applying to your puppy will be confirmed with you before you commit. Puppies placed as companions or performance partners are generally registered on the Dogs Australia (ANKC) Limited Register and sold under a non-breeding agreement, including desexing requirements. Limited registration allows participation in eligible dog sports and performance activities, subject to the rules of the relevant organisation. It does not provide breeding or conformation showing rights. Main Register, co-ownership and export enquiries are discussed individually and are subject to a separate agreement.

Your puppy’s purchase price includes:

• A veterinary health check before going home.
• Their first vaccination, generally at six to seven weeks of age.
• Regular worming.
• Registration appropriate to the agreed placement.
• A puppy pack with information to help you continue their care and early training.
• A sample of their current food when collected in person.
• Ongoing support from me throughout your dog’s life.

A Puppy Purchase Agreement must also be signed. The balance of the purchase price is payable when your puppy is seven weeks old, following final selection and confirmation of the placement.

Puppies generally leave for their new homes between eight and ten weeks of age, depending on their individual readiness and the arrangements agreed with their owners. I prefer owners to collect their puppy in person wherever possible. This gives us an opportunity to discuss their care, routine and settling-in needs. Where collection is not practical, transport can be discussed individually. Puppies travelling by air will not depart before nine weeks of age. Transport and associated delivery costs are the responsibility of the new owner and will be discussed beforehand.

My commitment to a Dunwurkn puppy continues after they leave for their new home. I welcome updates and am available to help owners with questions as their puppy grows.If your circumstances change and you can no longer care for your dog, please contact me before arranging another home. I ask that Dunwurkn dogs either return to me or remain with their family while I help find a suitable placement.
